Video Introduction

About Me

Hello! My name is David and here’s a bit of my story. I have been married to my wife, Kaye, for over 40 years. We have three married children and seven grandchildren. My wife and I started dating in high school and we got married after I graduated from college. We have lived in the Atlanta area our entire married life.

I retired from a corporate finance and accounting career approximately 6 years ago at the age of 56. Upon retirement I was asking God what he wanted me to do next. Shortly after that I was introduced to Gary Smith. Gary encouraged me to join Iron Forums as an advisor and I have spent the last 4 to 5 years going to the North Gwinnett and Sugarloaf forums and working with our members.

Once I retired, I had a desire to give back to the next generation of Christian business men. Iron Forums has given me the platform to live out that desire. I count it a privilege to be able to spend time with younger men and try to help and encourage them in any way I can in their business and family.

I love playing golf with my two oldest grandsons. Although I am not very good, the time with the grandsons is priceless. Recently we were playing at Hamilton Mill and I made a shot from 144 yards out on a par 5. That was the good news. The bad news was that it was still a double bogey because I tried to cut a corner and shoot over some trees and caused two penalty shots prior to making the 144 yard shot.

Fun Facts

Quotes

I remember a pastor made the following statement when I was in high school. He said, “Your life is not determined by what you want, but by the choices you are about to make.”  That was great advice for a young person starting college, marriage, and career.

Favorite Book

I read the book Halftime by Bob Buford early in my career. It helped me keep the right priorities in my life.

Things I'm Working On

I want to continue to spend quality time with my children and grandchildren in order to leave a lasting Godly legacy to them.

HObbies

Travel, photography, golf, and collecting ancient coins from the time of the Bible.

#1 Business Accomplishment

I was CFO of a public company several years ago when we sold our business to one of our competitors. After the deal was completed, I had the CEO of the company that bought us tell me that the reason they paid a premium for our company was because they trusted me and believed what I was telling them.
